About the project
Description
While the oven quickly gained a following of loyal culinary enthusiasts, with so many complex new capabilities the user experience could be overwhelming. For the introduction of their second OV2 oven, there was an opportunity to create an intuitive user experience that welcomes even more users to the precision cooking world.
My role
I led an iterative design process — studying cooking behaviours, prototyping, user testing, and refining toward the best oven cooking experience. Beyond the design work itself, I built and maintained the product design system, collaborated closely with engineers through implementation, directed UX research strategy, and oversaw freelance contributors across the project.
Expert precision is Anova’s biggest strength and its biggest weakness. It sets them apart from the competition but can add complexity, leaving users overwhelmed. We crafted design principles informed by this tension to guide the design process
Develop wireframes by understanding different cooking behaviors and methods
We built an OV2 physical/digital prototype for the physical product and a phone with Figma screens for the digital screen.
